Lowes Court Gallery and Tourist Information Centre is
located in the picturesque hamlet of Egremont in the heart
of West Cumbria. For over forty years we have supported
the work of artists and craftspeople living and working
primarily in the Egremont area and in West Cumbria, but
also more widely in Cumbria and neighbouring counties.
In 1973, the Association sensitively restored the oldest building in
the Main Street, creating a gallery and shop, which continues to
be a highlight of the town today. Each year, the Gallery helps
local artists to develop, show and sell to a local audience and to
visitors, which it welcomes to the town, and for whom it provides a
tourist information service.
The Gallery is managed by an Association, which is registered as
a charity. The management committee is elected from a
membership of over 170 artists and crafters, with 25 active
volunteers regularly supporting the operation.
Our Mission: To support local artists and craftspeople from the
area and the county of Cumbria and to provide a Tourist
Information service in support of local businesses.
Our Vision: To operate a thriving business in Egremont, the first
stop for residents and visitors seeking gifts, artworks, and
information, helping local businesses to increase their turnover
and contribute further to the local economy.
