Lowes Court Gallery
Lowes Court Gallery and Tourist Information Centre is located in the picturesque hamlet of Egremont in the heart of West Cumbria.
For over forty years we have supported the work of artists and craftspeople living and working primarily in the Egremont area and in West Cumbria, but also more widely in Cumbria and neighbouring counties.
In 1973, the Association sensitively restored the oldest building in the Main Street, creating a gallery and shop, which continues to be a highlight of the town today. Each year, the Gallery helps local artists to develop, show and sell to a local audience and to visitors, which it welcomes to the town, and for whom it provides a tourist information service.
The Gallery is managed by an Association, which is registered as a charity. The management committee is elected from a membership of over 170, with 25 active volunteers regularly supporting the operation.
Our Mission: To support local artists and craftspeople from the area and the county of Cumbria and to provide a Tourist Information service in support of local businesses.
Our Vision: To operate a thriving business in Egremont, the first stop for residents and visitors seeking gifts, artworks, and information, helping local businesses to increase their turnover and contribute further to the local economy.
The duality of the art gallery and tourist information centre means that it is a very useful place to visit. The building is unique and sets off the exhibitions beautifully.
The gallery itself has several art and craft exhibitions throughout the year and is a great backdrop to showcase the amazing and varied talents of the Cumbrian Artists and Craftsters.
You can be assured of a warm welcome when seeking tourist information, from all the volunteers. They can help you with what to do and where to go in the local area and also recommend somewhere to stay at the end of it all.
Most of the products in the main shop and in the exhibition spaces upstairs are for sale and made by many local and some well known artists.
The shop sells a wide variety of arts and crafts, from hand turned bowls and spoons to original pottery pieces; and from hand sewn textiles to the most beautiful jewellery.
Whether you are looking for that centre piece item for your home or just presents for loved ones, Lowes Court Gallery is definitely well worth a visit. So why don't you come and take a look and spend some time wandering around admiring the talent on show. We are sure you won't be disappointed.
If you cannot make it to Egremont, please spend some time browsing these pages which showcase some of the items we sell and the craftspeople we represent. If you see something you like give us a call or drop us an email.
